2016 Fellow Award

Ron McDonald Ronald MacDonald, P. Eng., is awarded the CSBE/SCGAB Grade of Fellow for his dedicated service to the profession and his contributions to the Society. He is currently an Associate Engineer with AMEC in Cambridge, ON. Ron received his Engineering degree from the University of Guelph in 1981 and stayed in the area to practice engineering and excel in the area of energy management assisting both agricultural and industrial clients with high quality engineering solutions for their enterprises. In addition, Ron has served the engineering profession throughout his career at the local, national and international level. He has been recognized for his leadership in developing several ASABE Technical Standards which are utilized globally. Specifically regarding CSBE/SCGAB, he has served as Ontario Director (1988 - 1990), Secretary-Treasurer (1989 - 2002) the Awards Committee (2005 - 2013) and President (2011 - 2012). In 1996 Ron was named Engineer of the Year by CSBE/SCGAB and in 2004 received the John Turnbull Award, followed by the Maple Leaf Award in 2008 for his leadership and contributions to the engineering profession.

Ronald MacDonald P. Eng., est décerné le CSBE/SCGAB Grade of Fellow pour son service dédié au profession et ses contributions à la société. Il est couramment ingénieur associé avec AMEC en Cambridge, Ontario. Ron a reçu son baccalauréat en génie de l'université de Guelph en 1981 et il est resté dans la région pour pratiquer le génie dans la domaine de conservation d'énergie. Il assiste les clients industriels et en agriculture avec les solutions d'une qualité supérieur pour leur entre- prises. De plus, Ron a servi la domaine de génie pendant son carrière au niveau local, national et international. Il est reconnu pour son leadership en développant plusieurs ASABE standards technique qui sont utilisés globalement. En concernant CSBE/SCGAB, il a servi comme Directeur de l'Ontario (1988-1990), Secrétaire et Trésorier (1989-2002), la Comité des Prix (2005-2013), et Président (2011- 2012). En 1996, Ron était nommé Ingénieur de l'Année par CSBE/ SCGAB et en 2004 il a reçu le prix John Turnbull. En 2008 il a reçu le prix Maple Leaf pour son leadership et contributions à la profession de génie.

2016 Fellow Award

M NgadiDr. Michael Ngadi is awarded the CSBE/SCGAB Grade of Fellow for his dedicated and significant contributions to the fields of Food Science and Food Engineering. His work on heat and mass transfer processes in foods, deep-fat frying, hyperspectral imaging and non-thermal technologies such as pulsed electric field and ultraviolet light have been ranked high within the academic, scientific and industry communities. His activities on these areas have generated over 200 peer reviewed technical papers, book chapters and more than 300 presentations at various local and international meetings. He has secured 1 world-wide patent (a 2nd under review) and 6 reports of inventions. His research has greatly improved understanding of the mechanisms and parameters involved in ensuring high quality and safe food products. Aspects of Dr. Ngadi's basic research have been translated to industrial application contributing to advances in sectors of the food industry. He has served the scientific and professional communities well. He was Vice-President of the Canadian Society for Biological Engineering (CSBE) and Chair of the Northeast Agricultural and Biological Engineering Conference (NABEC, a community of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE)), among others. He is currently Chair of the Processing Systems (PRS) community of the ASABE. He is also an Associate Editor of the Transactions of the ASABE. He serves on the board of the International Commission of Agricultural Engineering (CIGR), Section VI. He has contributed to international collaborative projects in France, Ireland, Romanian, Mexico, China, India and France as well several countries in Africa (Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Uganda, Zambia, etc). ). Dr. Ngadi has trained and mentored more than 25 students at the Master's and Doctoral levels as well as several Post-doctoral Fellows. He taught several courses at McGill University including Food Process Engineering and Food Safety Engineering. He is co-Director of the Integrated Food and Bioprocess program at the University. Some of the awards and recognitions he received in recognition of his outstanding leadership and contributions to Food Process Engineering include the William Dawson Scholar (Canada Research Chair, Tier 2) at McGill University and John Clark Award of the CSBE.

Prof. Michael Ngadi reçoit le titre de membre Fellow de la CSBE/ SCGAB pour ses importantes contributions et son dévouement au domaine des sciences et du génie alimentaires. Ses travaux sur les transferts de chaleur et de masse dans les aliments, de grande friture, d'imagerie hyperspectrale et sur les technologies non-thermiques telles que les champs électriques pulsés et les rayons ultraviolets, sont reconnus de haut calibre par les milieux scientifique, industriel et académique. Sa recherche a produit plus de 200 articles et chapitres évalués par les pairs, et plus de 300 présentations à des conférences locales et internationales. Il a produit un brevet international (et un deuxième est à l'étude) et 6 rapports d'invention. Ses résultats de recherche ont contribué à améliorer notre compréhension des mé- canismes et des paramètres qui sont essentiels pour assurer la qualité et l'innocuité des aliments. De nombreuses contributions de re- cherche du prof. Ngadi ont été utiles au développement d'applica- tions industrielles et à l'avancement de l'industrie alimentaire. Il est également au service de sa communauté professionnelle et scientifique ayant été, entre autres, vice-président de la société canadienne de génie agro-alimentaire (CSBE/SCGAB) et président de la conférence NABEC (Northeast Agricultural and Biological Engineering Conference). Il est présentement président du comité des systèmes de transformation de l'ASABE. Il est également éditeur adjoint du journal Transactions of the ASABE. Il siège à la section VI du conseil de la commission international de génie rural (CIGR). Il a contribué et contribue toujours à de nombreux projets collaboratifs en France, Irlande, Roumanie, Mexique, Chine, Inde de même qu'en de nombreux pays d'Afrique (Nigéria, Ghana, Bénin, Ouganda, Zam- bie, etc.). Prof. Ngadi a formé et été le mentor de plus de 25 étudiants aux études supérieures (maîtrise et doctorat) et de nombreux boursiers postdoctoraux. Il enseigne de nombreux cours à l'université McGill dont génie des procédés alimentaires et génie de l'innocuité alimentaire. Il est co-directeur du programme de maîtrise en Procédés alimentaires et bio-procédés. Il fut récipiendaire d'un bon nombre de prix et reconnaissances pour ses contributions dont la chaire William Dawson à l'université McGill et le prix John Clark de la CSBE/SCGAB.
