Call for papers - CSBE/SCGAB Technical conference and AGM 2013, Saskatoon


Call for Papers (now closed). Over 100 abstracts were received. The technical program will be finalized by April 30, 2013. 


You are invited to submit an abstract to the Conference for Interdisciplinary Engineering which will be held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan July 7-10, 2013. The conference will provide the opportunity to share professional research, experience and insights with colleagues from Canada and beyond. The conference is presented by the CSBE/SCGAB and will be held in conjunction with the 2013 Annual General Meeting of the CSBE/SCGAB.

Paper and poster presentations in the following general subject areas are welcome. Any topic related to sustainable engineering solutions will be considered for presentation.

  • Bio-processing & food engineering
  • Information technologies
  • Structures & controlled environments
  • Biomedical & bioinstrumentation
  • Power & machinery
  • Standards
  • Soil & water
  • Waste management
  • Renewable energy & energy management
  • Environment 
  • Industry & academia collaborations

Presentations about successful or innovative teaching and extension programs are also welcome.

Format: Presentation may be as a poster or oral presentation (15 min).

Abstract Submission: Abstracts must be 250 words or less, and are due on or before February 8 March 15, 2013. Submissions must be made using the Abstract Proposal Form on the conference website(below).

Student CompetitionUndergraduate and graduate students are invited to enter the Student Competition by submitting an abstract for either an oral presentation or a poster and declaring your interest in participating to the Student Competition contact person below. Entrants must be current or recently-graduated students. The competition will be for 1) Best Student Oral Presentation and 2) Best Student Poster Presentation, as judged by a panel. Evaluation will be based on established criteria that include both content and presentation. Awards will be given to the top three winners in each category, including a certificate and a cash award. Note that students need not be a CSBE/SCGAB member to compete.

Articles: All presenters at the conference are encouraged to prepare a written article to accompany their poster or oral presentation. Full articles must be formatted using the Article Template and submitted through the website. You will be able to upload your paper only after notification of acceptance after April 15, 2013.
