Located in Edmonton, this hands-on Energy Management Engineer provides technical expertise to the delivery of the Growing Forward (GF) 2 On-Farm Energy Management Program.
As the Energy Management Engineer, you will lead and be responsible for applied research of beneficial management practices (BMP's) and emerging opportunities related to energy efficiency and renewable energy in the agriculture industry.
As the Energy Management Engineer, you will develop quality controls and training for external energy assessors. In addition, you will compile and synthesize energy use and energy savings information from producers to calculate total Program energy use impact and equivalent carbon offset generation.
Your well-developed leadership, influencing and team building skills will serve you well as you work within a dynamic team of technical staff and collaborate with a variety of industry and internal professional staff from other areas of the department. Your strong written and verbal communication skills and organizational talents will be critical to managing multiple projects, deliver technical information to producers and other interest groups and demonstrate technologies and BMP's to the industry.
Salary: $3,007.16 to $4,163.64 bi-weekly ($78,486 to $108,671 annually). Closing Date: October 3, 2016. Job ID # 1038216.
Qualifications: University degree in Mechanical, Bio-Resource, Electrical, Agricultural Engineering or related, plus a minimum of five years of directly related experience in the area of energy management. Must have demonstrated knowledge and/or experience of different scientific and engineering processes as well as energy and power usage and efficiency relevant to applied research and technology development. Professional and progressive experience working with related Western Canadian crop and livestock production practices on-farm and in the field is an asset. The equivalency of additional related education will be considered in lieu of experience on a one-for-one basis. The successful candidate must be eligible for membership in APEGA.
