We continue to create awareness about biological engineering between school students by making our presence every year at Manitoba School science symposium. In 2010, Hongru Ren an Andres Lee of Acadia Junior High School , and Barbar Lattova and Elisia Jones of Shaftesbury High School won CSBE/SCGAB Biosystems Engineering awards. Elsa Kaka, Austria and Julian Sanchez won 2011 awards. Department of Biosystems Engineering arranged information booths at Provincial Engineering and Geoscience Week event to promote biological engineering to public.
A barbeque was arranged by Biosystems Engineering graduate student association on to welcome new graduate students on September 24, 2010, and a total of 30 including faculty, students and family attended that event. The Department of Biosystems Engineering has introduced specialization options (Agricultural,
Biomedical, Bioprocessing, Environmental, and Sustainable Building Systems), by which students have the opportunity to take 27 credit hours of courses related to one of these areas and to graduate with the Specialization noted on their transcript.
A group of our Manitoba region CSBE members are working intensively in local organizing committee for 2011 CSBE/SCGAB Annual Conference.
Manitoba region welcomes you all to Winnipeg.
